Citizens & Healthcare

ZOOM: CitizenLab - citizens as a guide to reimbursements in health care

There has been little experience of citizen and patient participation in the area of reimbursements in health care. Nevertheless, this is an important issue, since to a large extent it determines the quality, accessibility and solidarity of our health care system.

Effectiveness and cost are now important criteria that play a part in these decisions. Are there other elements that should also be taken into account? Possible examples are ethical values and societal preferences. Nevertheless, it is important to find out what the preferences of the population are and identify the values on which those preferences are based.

In the CitizenLab, the King Baudouin Foundation presented these questions to a group of 32 citizens.
