A discursive look at citizen deliberation: the how and the who of discourse analysis in deliberative processes
The King Baudouin Foundation believes in the potential of discourse analysis as a method to gain a deeper understanding in what citizens say and do during deliberative processes.
This report is based on the methodological experiences with discourse analysis during the Citizenlab about ‘Reimbursements in health care’ and a roundtable on discourse analysis as a method in citizen deliberation processes.
The report elucidates the meaning of discourse and what discourse analysis implies. It ends with concrete basic principles and focal points, which can be used as guidance for the integration of discourse analysis as a method for a deliberative process.
